Informations:

Nea Gonia is a small village of 500 residents, lies on an upland facing southwest at an altitude of 105 meters above the sea level.

5 minutes away from sandy beaches, it has a breathtaking view of Mount Olympus, vineyards, olive tree groves and wheat fields.

Nea Gonia makes for a gastronomical and educational destination all year round. The village offers three different educational programs that focus on the local products, and every year almost 4500 students visit the region and learn harvesting methods as well as how to bake their own bread. It has its own cultural association and keeps an architectural uniformity that enhances the village’s beauty.

Worth it to see:

  • The famous Marianna’s Vineyards:  famous for not producing a single drop of wine! Marianna Kazakis and her family grow their vines with tender loving care in order to collect each May the tenderest leaves of the season.
  • The workshop of one of the last remaining piano craftsmen in Europe: Panos Ioannidis. Importing the finest Sitka spruce straight from Vancouver Island in Canada, Panos designs creates and refurbishes concert-hall pianos from scratch using in-house techniques.
  • The women’s cooperative Goniatises where you will have the opportunity to taste delicious handmade pies, old-school recipes of jams and traditional bread cooked in the wooden oven!
